HIRED GUIDES AT MACHU PICCHU
You can hire a guide for Machu Picchu on our website for any day of the year. A guided tour lasts approximately 2 and a half hours.

A good and experienced guide will make your visit memorable. Only authorized and professionally qualified guides are allowed to lead tours at Machu Picchu. Authorized guides must have completed a university degree in tourism and hold a valid professional qualification certificate issued by the National Tourism College. The guide must always carry a photo ID card issued by the National Tourism College. Additionally, all guides working at Machu Picchu must also be certified in first aid.

HIRING A TOUR GUIDE FOR MACHU PICCHU WITH US
When you hire one of our Machu Picchu tour guides, your guide will meet you at the main entrance gate of Machu Picchu and can be identified by a photo ID card hanging from their neck. We also include a pre-tour briefing and introduction before your scheduled tour time. The pre-briefing and introduction take place at your hotel in Aguas Calientes the night before at 7 PM. If you arrive on the same day, our staff will try to meet you at the train station exit with a sign featuring your name. Please provide your hotel or train arrival information when making your reservation.

COST OF HIRING A TOUR GUIDE AT MACHU PICCHU
Even if you don’t hire one of our Machu Picchu tour guides, the prices are generally standard among all guides, so don’t try to swap one for another. The price depends on how many people are in the group, but as a general rule for a 2 and a half hour guided tour, you will pay around $25 per person. Tour guides are independent contractors, so they must pay for their own transportation to Machu Picchu and their own entrance tickets, so keep this in mind when hiring a guide and tipping them.
