Pallay Punchu Mountain is a natural attraction located at 4,792 meters above sea level.
The one-day tour to Pallay Punchu, the “Mountain of Ponchos,” is an adventure departing from Cusco. It offers breathtaking views of naturally colored rock formations (ochre, purple, and green) reminiscent of Andean weaving. During the trip, you can enjoy panoramic views of Layo Lagoon and high Andean landscapes. This tour includes breakfast and lunch and is ideal for photography and nature enthusiasts, but proper acclimatization in Cusco is recommended.

The journey begins early in the morning with a 4:00 AM pick-up from your hotel. We will then depart for Cusipata in our private vehicle, a journey of approximately two hours, where we will enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel up. After breakfast, we will continue to Marangani Sicuani, from where we will take a detour to the community of Layo. The total journey until the starting point of the hike is four hours.
Once we arrive, we will have an approximately 50-minute uphill hike. During the hike, we will observe splendid landscapes and some of the animals that inhabit the area. Upon reaching the mountain, you will be amazed by its colors (ochres, purples, and greens) reminiscent of Andean textiles and their almost perfect lines. You will have ample time to explore the area and take photographs. From there, you can also see Lamgui Lagoon.
After enjoying Pallay Punchu Mountain for approximately one hour, we will return to the trailhead (approximately 30 minutes), where we will board our private transport back to Cusipata for lunch. There, our professional chef will serve you a delicious meal before we return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM.
The tour concludes with a transfer back to your hotel.
