On a clear day, the snow-capped peak of Ausangate can be seen from the city of Cusco. It is one of the most sacred mountains in all of Peru and is home to one of the country’s most picturesque landscapes. The most visited of which are the crystal-clear waters of its famous seven alpine lagoons.
The Ausangate full day tour, begins with a 3-hour drive from Cusco to the small mountain community of Pacchanta, located at an altitude of 4,200 meters. The hike thereafter is a 3-hour adventure around the breathtaking seven lagoons.
Another highlight of the seven lagoons tour is a chance to warm your bones during a relaxing dip in the hot springs of Pacchanta. Situated at the foot of the sacred peak of Ausangate, amidst the backdrop of the Cordillera del Vilcanota, the temperature of the natural waters of the baths range between 38ºC and 44ºC.

Itinerary
- 5am : Pick up from your hotel in Cusco
- 8am : Arrive in Pacchanta and take breakfast
- 9am : Begin the 90 minute hike (or horse ride) to the 7 Lagoons
- 10:30am : Time to explore and take photos
- 11am : Return walk for 1-hour back to Pacchanta
- 12pm : Visit to the hot springs in Pacchanta (optional)
- 1:30pm : Lunch in Pacchanta
- 2:30pm : 3-hour drive back to Cusco

The Ausangate 7 Lagoons Tour begins with pick up at 5am from your hotel in Cusco.
Your private transportation will then take you on a 3-hour drive through the picturesque towns and valleys of the Peruvian Andes, until you reach the community of Pacchanta that sits at an altitude of 4,200 meters at the foot of the Ausangate Mountain.
Upon arrival in Pacchanta, you will eat a delicious breakfast amidst the stunning backdrop of the Ausangate Mountain range, before preparing to start the hike. After breakfast, you will follow the mountain trail up to the 7 lagoons, which will take approximately 90 minutes by hiking or 1 hour by horse (not included).
Once you reach the turquoise shores of the lakes, your guide will grant you free time to explore and take photos. The Ausangate 7 Lagoons are named Pucacocha Lagoon, Patacocha Lagoon, Alqacocha Lagoon, Qomercocha Lagoon, Orco Otorongo Lagoon, China Otorongo Lagoon and Azul Cocha Lagoon.
With a camera full of souvenir photos, you will say goodbye to the waters of the majestic lakes and follow your guide back to the community of Pacchanta. The afternoon will then gift you with an opportunity to warm your bones and sore muscles during a relaxing dip in the hot springs.
After revitalising yourself in the thermal baths, you will enjoy a freshly prepared lunch whilst learning about the culture and history of Pacchanta and Ausangate.
The return journey to Cusco thereafter will be a 3-hour drive through stunning Andean Valleys, until you are transferred to your hotel in the city for approximately 6pm.
