On this tour of Pachacamac and Barranco, you will travel to the south of Lima to explore the famous archaeological site of Pacha Kamaq, named after the Pre-Inca God that created the earth the ‘Earth Maker’. The complex spans 600 hectares, and consists of mud brick structures such as, religious temples, secular pyramids and royal palaces.
The bohemian district of Barranco is famous for being the most romantic area of Lima, and is home to many of Peru’s leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers. Its picturesque coastline is a popular destination for beachgoers in the summer, & the legendary ‘Bridge of Sighs’ entices lovers from far and wide to cross holding hands & make a wish.

Itinerary
- Pachacamac and Barranco Tour 1/2 Day
There are 2 schedules to choose from depending on your travel itinerary:
- In the morning : 9:00am to 1:30pm
- In the afternoon : 1:30pm to 6:00pm
The 1/2 day city tour will begin with pick up from your hotel in Lima 10 minutes before the chosen start time of the tour.
The tour will begin with a 30 minute drive to the south of Lima (31 km), to the archaeological site of Pachacamac. A sacred and ceremonial place, considered to be part of the mystical axis of the world since the beginning of Christianity. It is the main pre-Hispanic ceremonial center of the Pacific coast of America. Within its walls there are places of pilgrimage to worship where you can consult the oracle of Pachacamac, which is believed to be “The Maker of the World”. The temple is entirely constructed of mud bricks.
Throughout the guided tour of Pachacamac you will visit:

Your tour guide will then grant you some free time to observe the local artisans create their traditional crafts, and possibly buy a souvenir or two.
After exploring Pachacamac, you will visit the district of Barranco. On route, you will be treated to beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and some of Lima’s most famous beaches including, the Costa Verde and Los Pantanos de Villa. Barranco is the smallest and most bohemian district of Lima, where you will take a walk to the Bridge of sighs, where you are welcome to perform a local tradition. You will also visit the church of the 19th century and the take photos atop the Barranco viewpoint. A hotspot for many couples who wish to enjoy a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and the other districts along the coastline of Lima.
After a 4-hour tour, you will be transported back to your hotel in Lima.
