DAY 1 : Iquitos – Cumaceba Lodge: Paiche Fish Farm – Primary Rainforest Walk
Your adventure begins with a pickup at the airport or your hotel, followed by a fascinating walking tour through the historic center of Iquitos. You will explore architectural treasures from the rubber boom era, including the iconic Iron House (Casa de Fierro), designed by Gustave Eiffel, as well as the Hotel Palace, Casa Cohen, and Casa Fitzcarraldo.
From our private pier, we will depart by boat along the Itaya and Amazon Rivers, admiring the impressive bridge over the Nanay River, the largest bridge in Peru.
Our first special stop will be at Fundo Pedrito, where you will discover the impressive paiche (Arapaima gigas), the largest freshwater fish in the world, which can reach up to 3 meters (10 feet) in length and weigh as much as 200 kg (440 lbs). You will also have the opportunity to observe caimans and the majestic Victoria Regia, the world’s largest aquatic plant, whose enormous leaves can support up to 40 kg (88 lbs).
We will continue our journey to Cumaceba Amazon Lodge. After settling into your cabin and enjoying lunch, we will embark on a guided jungle walk to discover the area’s fascinating flora and fauna, with the opportunity to feed squirrel monkeys living freely in their natural environment.
After dinner, enjoy a nighttime canoe excursion through Shansho Lagoon in search of caimans. Back at the lodge, gather around the fire and listen to fascinating Amazonian stories and legends.

DAY 2 : Cumaceba Lodge: Piranha Fishing & Magical Dolphins
Wake up to the Loreto sunrise with a morning walk to observe Amazonian birds in their natural habitat. After breakfast, it’s time for adventure! Enjoy recreational piranha fishing and try your hand at catching other local species using traditional fishing techniques.
In the afternoon, embark on a search for the Amazon’s pink and gray river dolphins, a unique experience that few people in the world have the privilege of enjoying. Depending on weather conditions, you may also witness an impressive Amazonian sunset reflected on the river.
After dinner, set out on a night jungle walk to listen to the symphony of the rainforest and observe frogs, tarantulas, and nocturnal insects with flashlights. An immersive experience that will awaken all your senses.

DAY 3 : Cumaceba Lodge: Monkey Island & Yagua Native Community
Enjoy a morning canoe excursion through Shansho Lagoon to observe the Hoatzin, or Shansho, known as the most colorful “prehistoric bird” of the Amazon. After the excursion, enjoy breakfast at the lodge.
We will then navigate to the private “Monkey Island” project, a sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of more than five endangered primate species. Here, you may encounter the red howler monkey, known for its impressive roar, as well as the woolly monkey, saki monkey, spider monkey (maquisapa), and squirrel monkey. We will take a guided walk through the project’s rainforest surroundings before returning to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural visit to the Yagua Native Community, where you will learn about their traditional clothing, ancestral dances, native language, and handcrafted artwork.
As a special highlight, you will witness a demonstration of the blowgun, a traditional hunting weapon, and have the opportunity to test your aim.
After dinner, embark on a nighttime canoe excursion along the Amazon River, listening to the mysterious sounds of the rainforest after dark.

DAY 04: Cumaceba Lodge – Iquitos: Mariposas Mágicas y Despedida
After breakfast, enjoy a boat excursion to visit a butterfly farm, where a specialist will introduce you to the fascinating reproductive cycle and life stages of these beautiful insects, including the legendary Blue Morpho, considered one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world.
Return to the Ecolodge for your final Amazonian lunch.
At the scheduled time, we will begin our journey back to Iquitos. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport by private vehicle or to your hotel by the picturesque motokar, taking with you a suitcase full of unforgettable Amazonian memories.
