Itinerary
DAY 1 – CUSCO – SACSAYHUAMAN – LAGUNA YANACOCHA – HUCHUY QOSQO
Day 1 of the Huchuy Qosqo Tour will begin with pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 9am.
After 20 minutes drive in your private transport, you will arrive at the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman, located on the outskirts of the city. From here you will mount your horses and ride 3-hours over mountainous Andean grasslands to the shores of Laguna Yanacocha at 3,800 m / 12,543 ft. Here you will stop for lunch alongside grazing alpacas and amidst the backdrop of the beautiful lake.
The afternoon will bring with it a further 2-hour ride on horseback to the royal Inca estate of Huchuy Qosqo, meaning ‘little Cusco’ in Quechua. At 3,650 m/11,975 ft the site sits upon an agricutural plateau, surrounding by stepped terraces. Its imposing architecture includes a large open ceremonial center, the King’s palace, the temple of water. From here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley and the Vilcanota River below.
Upon arrival you will set up camp, enjoy a hearty dinner, and sleep the night under the starlit Andean sky.
DAY 2 – HUCHUY QOSQO – LAGUNA PIURAY – CHINCHERO – CUSCO
After breakfast, you will visit the royal Inca estate of Huchuy Qosqo, where your guide will take you on a journey through its rich history and give you a chance to explore the ruins.
After your tour of the archaeological site, you will continue along the trail on horseback, passing by the shores of Laguna Piuray. All the while admiring the breathtaking view of the surrounding Sacred Valley, and the snow-capped peaks of Chicón and Verónica in the distance.
After 4-hours of riding, you will reach the town of Chinchero at 3,762 m / 12,343 ft, where you private transport will be waiting to transfer you the 1-hour drive back to your hotel in Cusco.

Important information:
- Departure dates:We have groups for the Huchuy Qosqo trek every day of the year. But it is more advisable to make this trek between the months of April to December, since the months of January, February and March are the rainy season in Cusco.
