Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate, is an ancient checkpoint located at the upper entrance of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. It was also a place where offerings were made to the sun god. It features walls and niches, and it can be reached by walking along route 1C or through the Inca Trail (4 days or 2 days). From this point, the llaqta of Machu Picchu can be seen from a different perspective. Its function was to connect Machu Picchu with the Qhapaq Ñan and blend into the landscape.
