Visitors to Machu Picchu have a number of options for entrance tickets depending on their preferred arrival time, physical ability and desired viewpoints. Entrance to Machu Picchu can include a 3 hour visit to the Inca citadel, or an extended visit for those hoping to explore the trails around the sanctuary and the mountains that tower above it. There are therefore four main options to choose from for entry into the citadel:

  1. Machu Picchu only
  2. Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu Mountain
  3. Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Mountain
  4. Machu Picchu + Huchuy Picchu Mountain

Here you will find further information about the availability, cost and logistics of the different types of tickets:

1. Machu Picchu Only Entrance Ticket

The most popular ticket into Machu Picchu is to visit the inside of the citadel ONLY. With this ticket, tourists can spend up to 3 hours exploring the site once they have entered at their allotted time slot.

Machu Picchu Only Ticket Prices

The price of the Machu Picchu only entrance ticket is dependent on the nationality of the visitor. This is because there are different rates for Peruvian nationals (including the Andean community of Bolivia, Ecuador & Colombia) and foreign visitors.

Adult $ 17.19
Student $ 8.59

If you are a foreign tourist, ticket prices are as follows:

2. Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu Mountain Ticket

Huayna Picchu is the iconic mountain that sits behind the archaeological site and the one that you see in all the ‘postcard’ photos. The narrow Inca trail to the top of the mountain takes approximately one hour to climb and offers visitors a chance to get a bird’s eye view of Machu Picchu from above one of its famous peaks. At the top of Huayna Picchu there is a small archaeological site called the Temple of the Moon and a spectacular panoramic view of the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Tickets for Huayna Picchu Mountain are limited to 400 people per day and are popular amongst visitors of Machu Picchu. For this reason, we recommend booking tickets in advance to ensure you get the bucket list moment you are hoping for.
